Not every day is a good day! Here are some ways to take care of yourself on a bad day ๐Ÿ’œ

๐ŸšจRemember ๐Ÿšจ Self-care can look different for everyone, and it is important that you do things that feel caring to you.
Did you know that you can support the STAR centre while shopping online? By using easyfundraising, you can fundraise for our cause without spending any extra money. With over 7,000 partner brands, a portion of your purchases will be donated to us. The best part is that the brand covers the cost, so it's a win-win situation! Simply make your purchases through their App or Web Extension, and they will generate a commission that we turn into a donation. It's like magic! [TW: Discrimination & Microaggressions]

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆToday is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia, a day to stand out against discrimination and celebrate diversity. Remember, discrimination isn't always loud; it can be subtle and insidious too. Microaggressions - those seemingly harmless comments or actions - can deeply affect LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Let's be mindful of the impact of our words and actions. Let's challenge stereotypes and biases, and create spaces where everyone feels safe and respected. ๐Ÿ’–

This week parents have been warned of WhatsApp Groups sharing intimate/explicit images to children in Ayrshire. This is an example of how online sexual violence can impact our community. The STAR Centre is here to offer support to anyone affected by sexual violence both in person and online, and also to their friends and families ๐Ÿ’œ

If you have been affected in any way, please get in touch.

With help from Wullieโ€™s mini skips and rubbish removals some of our staff got their hands dirty pulling up leaves, clearing out rubbish and even braving the spider-dome (our shed) ๐Ÿก ๐ŸŒณ ๐ŸƒKeep your eyes peeled for all the exciting new things we have planned for our garden!

๐Ÿง  Understanding trauma: Did you know our brains have 5 automatic responses to danger? Fight, flight, freeze, flop, and friend. But here's the thing: none of these reactions mean consent. Whether you fought back, froze, or tried to befriend the threat, it's crucial to remember your response was instinctive, not a choice. If you've experienced sexual violence and need support, know that you're not alone. Reach out to The Star Centre for confidential support on 01563 544 686 or starcentreayrshire.org. ๐Ÿ’ซ #5Fs #TraumaAwareness #AnyBodyAnyTypeAnyTime

WE'RE HIRING!

This is an exciting time to join our existing team of sexual violence support workers offering trauma-informed psychosocial education and emotional support to young people who have experienced child sexual abuse and their families. Studies show that women and Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic people are less likely to apply for a job unless they meet every criterion. If you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't align perfectly with the job description, we'd love you to apply anyway. You might just be the perfect person for this role. We welcome applications from all minority groups, including people with disabilities and people who are neurodivergent.

For more information on how to apply visit the link in our bio!
