What do you mean by “any type” of sexual violence?

Any experience where someone has acted sexually towards you without your consent is an example of sexual violence. This can be in person or online, and can happen without there being any physical touching.

If this sounds like something you have experienced and you want to speak about it, please get in touch.

[TW: Discrimination & Microaggressions]

🏳️‍🌈Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia, a day to stand out against discrimination and celebrate diversity. Remember, discrimination isn't always loud; it can be subtle and insidious too. Microaggressions - those seemingly harmless comments or actions - can deeply affect LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Let's be mindful of the impact of our words and actions. Let's challenge stereotypes and biases, and create spaces where everyone feels safe and respected. 💖

The STAR Centre is here to offer support to anyone affected by sexual violence both in person and online, and also to their friends and families 💜

If you have been affected in any way, please get in touch.

🧠 Understanding trauma: Did you know our brains have 5 automatic responses to danger? Fight, flight, freeze, flop, and friend. But here's the thing: none of these reactions mean consent. Whether you fought back, froze, or tried to befriend the threat, it's crucial to remember your response was instinctive, not a choice. If you've experienced sexual violence and need support, know that you're not alone. Reach out to The Star Centre for confidential support on 01563 544 686 or starcentreayrshire.org. 💫 #5Fs #TraumaAwareness #AnyBodyAnyTypeAnyTime
This week is #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek so we wanted to remind people that our support workers offer free, confidential emotional and practical support for ANYBODY (13+) that has experienced ANY TYPE of sexual violence at ANY TIME in their life 💜
